JOSE CASTANEDA FOR CONGRESS

Soon after high school I started working in the restaurant industry. I started out working the graveyard shift and I worked my way up into management positions primarily at Jack in the Box and Naugles. Currently I work for McLane, one of the largest food distribution companies in the United States, in customer service and workplace safety. I have the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certification given by the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

I have been a member of the Libertarian Party of California since 1980 and have held various positions such as secretary in the California party and secretary, vice-chair, and chair in the Libertarian Party of Los Angeles County.

I am a long-time resident of Los Angeles. I grew up in Compton when it was a nice middle-class area, and parents could allow children to play outside without fear; a person did not have to be rich to buy a home; the cost of energy was low; taxes were not as high as they are now; and families and business were coming to California and Los Angeles.

I have seen the changing climate where parents are afraid to let their children play outside; people have to be rich to buy a home; the cost of energy is high; families are being taxed to death; where we have one of the worst educational system in the nation and the world; where the high cost of regulations is forcing business to leave California for more welcoming locations.

Help me fight for liberty so we can restore the California way of life. The liberty to not intervene in the affairs of other nations and having Americans die in some foreign land, the liberty to have a high-quality education for our children so we can compete economically with other nations, the liberty to live without fear of crime, the liberty to stop inflation and the reduced value of the dollar, the liberty to keep more of our income to use to support our children and spouse, the liberty to have non-governmental approaches to help those that are homeless, those dealing with hunger, and children being neglected by their guardians, and liberty to reduce regulations that cause us to live with a high cost of living as it applies to buying groceries, homes, transportation, and fuel.
